Local Business Reviews and Happenings
Miami is an important city in the southeast of the United States. It's also a part of the largest metropolitan area in Florida. This tropical city is a world-famous tourist spot. Sandy beaches and the warm weather that last throughout the whole year have a lot to do with that fact. This peculiar town has so much to offer that you might find kids on Spring Break, families, couples, or even celebrities looking for a place to get away from the frenzy.
This city is divided into three important districts: Downtown (where you can find Central Business District, Park West, Omni, and the famous Brickell), North (where you can find Midtown, Overtown, Design District, Little Haiti, and the Upper Eastside), and West and South (where you can visit Little Havana, West Miami, Coral Way, Coconut Grove, and Kendall).
Miami is a mixed and multicultural city mainly because of immigration from several Latin American countries. This is why you will find a rich culture that will express trough art, music, and even graffiti.
Once you are here, you may like a visit to Little Havana, the Vizcaya Museum, that was formerly the winter house for James Deering, the vice-president of the Harvester Company; the Fairchild Tropical Botanical Garden, where you can see colorful and peculiar plants; Coral Castle; and the Art Bass.
The Vizcaya Museum will be a great experience for all the art lover tourists who are eager to enjoy a little bit of history through architecture. Vizcaya has been described as “the finest private house ever built in America,” “a jewel among Miami’s skyscrapers and subdivisions." Vizcaya was created as James Deering’s subtropical winter home in the 1910s and today it is a National Historic Landmark and accredited museum.
If you have a more adventurous taste you can take a tour in an airboat through the Everglades. If you are lucky, you'll spot an alligator.
Miami's public transportation system is the most extensive compared to other places in Florida. If you are not worried about travel time, then we have good news: you can visit all commercial areas and major attractions within Miami without a car. Miami's bus system covers the entire county and the Metrorail has two lines (green and orange) of an elevated rail system that serves Miami and its surrounding areas.
Miami is the perfect spot to spend a few days under the sun.
