Local Business Reviews and Happenings
This city is the most populous municipality in all of Western Colorado. It serves as a major commercial and transportation hub within the large area between the Green River and the Continental Divide. The area has developed as a major mountain biking destination, so if you like adventures in the great outdoors this place should be a part of your bucket list. The city has two prominent trails: Tabeguache and Kokopelli.
The climate in the downtown area is semi-arid. This is because Grand Junction sits in the middle of a large area of high desert. Winters are cold and dry, but you need to prepare for elevated temperatures throughout the year.
Amtrak, the national passenger rail system, provides service to this city. The Grand Valley Transit (GVT) is a regional transit system serving the grand valley.
The Grand Junction's Colorado National Monument was the home to a stage in the Coors Classic bicycle race that's known as the "Tour of the Moon," due to the unique landscape.
Things to do in Grand Junction:
Downtown Grand Junction is 100% pedestrian friendly. In fact, the town is a great place to go for a walk and enjoy a little bit of shopping or local gastronomy. This is a very popular spot for tourists because you will get to know the city while you have fun. Find just what you need among the many shops, music venues, restaurants, galleries, and area services.
Visit Grand Mesa, this is a very famous spot and is known for being the largest flattop mountain in the world. Trust us, you will feel very lucky to be here. There are lots of things to do and many outdoors activities, so if you are into these types of adventures you will love everything about Grand Mesa. Stop for a minute, breathe the fresh air, enjoy the view, and of course, take a picture.
If you are traveling with kids, you can visit the Children's Nature Center. This is the place to enjoy all the exotic animals in their natural habitats. Pythons, frogs, and stingrays, you will love to learn amazing facts while you watch the animals in live action. Beware of the spiders!
