Haviland Lake is famous for camping and fishing. With the lake and farm, the scenery that I took a picture of at Haviland Lake looks like a picture perfect painting.
Haviland Lake reservoir is located about 18 miles (29 km.) from Durango. The reservoir is home to a variety of trout (rainbow, cutthroat, and brook). Scenic Haviland Lake Campground has 43 camping sites that are located near stands of Ponderosa pines trees that provide ample shade. Accommodating RVs and tents, some of the sites are near the lake shore. All the sites have views of the lake and Hermosa Cliffs. The reservoir itself is a "wakeless" lake- only boats powered by electric troll motors or by hand rowing are allowed.
