Run by Ice Alaska (a non-profit started in 1989), the World Ice Art Championships is an ice sculpting contest in Fairbanks. This year it runs from March 3 to 26.

Ice Alaska started its first ice art championship in 1991. The first one featured 16 sculpting teams competing over a 1-week period. These days, the event lasts close to a month and features as many as 75 international teams. Thousands of visitors come to watch the contest.

It is the largest content of its kind and attracts more than 100 sculptors from 30 different countries. Here are some of their works.
