We arrived in Kanab, located on Kanab Creek just north of the Arizona state line, where we planned to stay overnight.

Situated in the "Grand Circle" area, Kanab is centrally located between Zion National Park, Bryce Canyon National Park, Grand Canyon (North Rim), Lake Powell, and Vermilion Cliffs National Monument. Other nearby attractions include Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument, and Moqui Cave (privately owned).

Locals refer to their town as "Little Hollywood" due to its history as a major filming location for many movies and television series. The mostly Western films and series have included Stagecoach, Planet of the Apes, The Outlaw Josey Wales, Death Valley Days, The Lone Ranger, Gunsmoke, Daniel Boone, El Dorado, Mackenna's Gold, and Sergeants 3.

In "Little Hollywood" Kanab, entrance to the Little Hollywood Land Movie Set Museum is free and visitors can see many of the old Western sets used in the movies shot locally that have been preserved in the museum.

So we decided to look around the museum to take advantage of the free entrance.

Many pieces of agricultural equipment used in the olden days were on display.

There were several completed buildings, but also many that just had front portions.

Although Little Hollywood Land Movie Set Museum is easy to find, if you travel without much research it can be easy to pass.

Little Hollywood Land became the new name for a long-time business in downtown Kanab when Tom Forsythe needed to integrate a movie set museum, photography gallery/studio, classic trading post, and a chuckwagon-style restaurant.

When Forsythe took over the operation in August 2006, it consisted of just a small gift shop and a rustic dining area built around a collection of movie sets from the area’s glory days of filming. After extensive expansion and remodeling until spring 2007, the resulting establishment included a much larger gift shop, new restrooms, and multiple dining rooms able to accommodate up to 400 guests.

Once you enter, go to the back of the building and you will find many items displayed. The difference between Little Hollywood Land Movie Set Museum and other museums is that visitors can touch the items on display and even sit on the saddles displayed here.

The saloon is usually is the place for a gunfight in Western movies.

Is he a sheriff or outlaw?

The museum entertains tour groups with a short play called "How the West was Lost."  The “actors” in it actually come from the tour groups, and everyone has a great time.

I felt that it would’ve been better if wax figures were displayed here…

These old Wild West items were displayed well with the environment.

This time I spotted a bank, which is usually the target for outlaws.

Even if they are not 3D, they looked pretty good.

I wonder if this carriage is for the dead from after a gunfight? ;)

The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976).

Sergeants 3 (1962), starring Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and the rest of the “Rat Pack.”

Behind the museum, there was a Native American and "Made in USA" gift shop for visitors to take home iconic memories of the American West. The people at the shop told us this with pride while there is an abundance of Made in China merchandise at other movie-related merchants.

My friend preferred to hold the hand of the woman. ;)

I noticed a lot of Native American arts & crafts and jewelry.
There is a store selling unique stones across the Little Hollywood Land Movie Set Museum, and I will show it to you some other time.

Keeping American pride in the "Made in USA" gift shop and Little Hollywood Land Movie Set Museum- it is definitely a place to stop by when you travel through the area. This place is especially fun if you are a Wild West movie lover like me!
