San Antonio received its name for the Saint Anthony of Padua, a very popular Catholic saint. You will find in San Antonio up to five 18th-century Spanish frontier missions, including The Alamo and San Antonio Missions National Historical Park, which together were designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2015.

The city is home to one of the largest concentrations of military bases in the United States and has become known as Military City, USA. The city is home to several active military installations: Lackland Air Force Base, Brooke Army Medical Center, Randolph Air Force Base, and Fort Sam Houston. The defense industry here is a huge employer, the numbers speak for themselves. The industry provides a $5.25 billion impact to the city's economy

Because of all the missions and the history behind this place, San Antonio is a very popular tourist location. Did you know that they also call San Antonio the "Alamo City," because of the Alamo Mission in San Antonio ("the Alamo"), that is located in Downtown?

It was founded in the 18th century as a Roman Catholic mission and fortress, and today is part of the San Antonio Missions World Heritage Site in San Antonio, Texas. This place was also the site of the Battle of the Alamo, a battle that you might remember from your schoolbooks, and is now a museum.

Once you are here, there are so many fun activities that you can schedule and plan. Here are some of our special recommendations:
You will live an unforgettable experience at the Battle for Texas, a sensory journey that promises to be like no other. Experience the daily lives of early Texas settlers, the tensions leading up to the Texas Revolution, and the climactic battle in which the Alamo defenders sacrificed their lives for the cause of freedom. A fun way to get close to the real story.

For a magic sight, you need to visit the Tower of the Americas. Located in downtown San Antonio, this 750-foot-tall tower will help you enjoy the most amazing views of the city. Delight your palate at the restaurant on the top and enjoy the view from the Observation Deck.

Visit the Buckhorn Saloon, a place that has been known over the years as a place for good conversation, great food, and spectacular wildlife exhibits. Today, the saloon houses a Café, Gift Shop, Shooting Gallery, and two museums, the Buckhorn Museum and the Texas Ranger Museum.

The Witte Museum is a place that has been reinventing over the years. Now they will offer a complete experience that involves dinosaurs, science, and more science.
