When you visit Louisville, you need to visit the Old Louisville neighborhood a place that is filled with breathtaking Victorian houses and buildings. The historic preservation district protects a number of old constructions and the historic vibe you feel once you walk through these streets. But once you go downtown you will notice modernity talking over with the skyscrapers.
If you like American whiskey, better known as bourbon, you will be very happy to be here. Louisville produces one-third of all the bourbon. Cheers!
Things to do in Louisville:
So, if you are into the bourbon fact you must visit the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. Located in the "Historic Whiskey Row" right in the heart of downtown, here you will be delighted by the tours they offer, the artisanal distillery, and of course, the thing that everyone is expecting: some nice tastings.
You can also enjoy the Kentucky Pierless Distilling Co. Tour. You will notice a huge red brick building that holds many treasures on the inside. This is a very close look at their crafting process and you will see everything that happens to turn a grain into a bottle full of spirit.
You might know that Louisville is extremely famous for hosting the Kentucky Derby horse race every year at the Churchill Downs Racetrack. This activities start during the first Saturday of May and last for about two weeks. If you are not going to visit here during that month, then you can always go for a tour on the Kentucky Derby Museum, a place where you will learn tons of cool facts and the stories that only people behind the scenes know about. If you are going to go to the Derby make sure you pack a huge hat.
As we told you, there is a vintage vibe to some parts of this city. If you are into the vintage style you can always go to the Derby City Antique Mall to find some treasures. They offer customers 3 complete stories of retro furniture, collectibles, clothes, and pretty much anything you want to complete your collection or give your home a classy old touch.
