The growth of this city was sparked by the donation of a large parcel of land to the University of California system. This way their story changed forever and the University installed on their land the 4th largest UC Campus in terms of attendance.

Now you can find tons of national and international companies having a strong presence in Irvine. People describe this city as a perfectly planned suburbia, and it is! You'll see that for yourself once you take a look at their streets and organization.

As in all suburbs, you'll see that it's extremely difficult to get around without a car, but don't worry... Car rentals are available very near the John Wayne Airport. Most of the major roads in Irvine have a bike path near the shoulder, so watch out for cyclists or rent a bicycle to move around.

Once you are here you can enjoy a little shopping because this place has two major shopping centers: The Irvine Spectrum (that features an IMAX theater and a Dave and Busters) and Park Place with tons of culinary options.

If you like the great outdoors and family fun then there are a couple parks you can visit while in Irvine:
- Boomers!: a very popular family amusement park with miniature golf, batting cages, laser-tags, Go Karts and family arcade games.
- The Great Park: this place is still under construction, but there are some fun rides that you can enjoy!
