Boston is the biggest city in New England and the capital state of Massachusetts. This is definitely a place that's part of the most popular tourist location list, and that might be because it's considered to be the most historic, wealthy, and influential city in the U.S. Surprising, right?

Boston has so many districts that if we list them it would take us forever (and truly you wouldn't read it), but we'll tell you this: This is a city of diverse neighborhoods, most of them used to be towns before they were annexed to the city. This fact makes people very proud of the neighborhood they come from because they are sort of like mini-hometowns.

The city is very cold during winters and incredibly humid during summers, but tourists don't seem to mind the humidity and prefer to visit the city during its summers (May-September). The thing is that with good weather and sunny days most of the attractions are opened for the public.

Warning: if you are planning to move around by car, we strongly advise against it. Driving is to be avoided if possible because of the traffic congestion, poor parking options, high driving-associated costs, complexity of navigation, aggressiveness of local drivers, and police officers that always seem ready to write you a ticket. So, please beware.  Instead of driving and having a miserable time, you can always use the public transit system, that here in Boston is known for being convenient and relatively inexpensive. The MBTA is the 4th largest transit system in the U.S.

Boston is a major college town as the home for Harvard, MIT, Boston University, Northeastern University, University of Massachusetts Boston, Tufts University, Suffolk University, and many others. The Boston metropolitan area contains more than 3 dozen institutes of higher education with more than 1,000 students enrolled.

Among the museums, you might like to visit the Boston Children's Museum, the Boston Athenaeum, the Museum of Fine Arts (that has the largest collection of Monet paintings outside of Paris, the largest collection of Japanese art outside Japan, and an outstanding collection of Egyptian, ancient Greek, and Roman art), the Harvard Art Museum, and the MIT Museum.
