I previously introduced the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum and when you can visit there for free. Here’s the link for that posting and this is a continuing post about the Museum.

Located at Lake Hood Seaplane Base, Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum includes aircraft related to Alaska’s aviation history, including displays focusing on World War II and the Japanese invasion of Alaska.

I felt odd seeing the rising sun flag hanging here in another hanger.
FYI, the rising sun flag is the military flag primarily used by Imperial Japan’s military force and Japan's Self Defense Forces. The flag has red sun rays that originate from the red circle in the middle, which symbolizes the rising sun.

This hanger’s displays focus on World War II, particularly the Japanese invasion of Alaska. Alaska was one of the important strategic hubs during World War II.

These are parts of aircraft shot down during World War II, and you can see the bullet holes.

These are a pilot’s clothes in Alaska during World War II.
These clothes looked very Alaskan to me. ;)

Japanese invaded Alaska even with a submarine, but they all were killed. I heard that not even one survived.

This is a cannon brought by the Japanese during World War II.

The U.S. collected the corpses of the Japanese and their keepsakes and delivered them back to Japan. I thought it was very impressive courteous manners!

Japanese attacked from the far ends of two islands in Alaska, but all were defeated completely.

These are Japanese military items.

This is beautiful Lake Hood located in front of the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum. This is Lake Hood Seaplane Base.

There was a fire in the mountains in front so they were covered with smog.

Ducks that have not yet migrated south were in the water.

Kids were watching planes landing and taking off at the control tower.

A red plane just took off.

Do you know that you can find more airplanes than cars here at the Lake Hood Seaplane Base?

There are many airplanes for sale here. Although prices vary, there are many planes you can buy for the same price as buying a regular car here.
